About Me
Joseph Maraska is a midshipman at the US Merchant Marine Academy, a service academy located in Kings Point, NY. While he attended high school at Wakefield School, a small private school in Northern Virginia, Joseph pursued an honors thesis regarding the connections between the world today and the time period prior to the First World War. Being the son of a US Marine, Joseph has had to move around the country as well as the world, traveling to various nations in Southeast Asia, South America, Europe, and the Middle East. Through his travels, Joseph has grown an interest in the everchanging atmosphere of global politics.
The world was flung into silence as the First World War slowly devoured Europe. Millions of soldiers lost their lives to one of the most devastating wars known to man. Though the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, undoubtedly, was the fatal spark, larger issues plagued the world as the globe crept towards the point of no return. Today, similar issues seem to be manifesting themselves in current global politics. If historians are correct when they say history does repeat itself, the world could see itself engulfed into another global war with devastations unlike the world has ever seen.
